The Komline-Henry STEB filtration system uses SealTrack™ positive mechanical seal technology to provide high-clarity filtration for machining, grinding, and central parts-washing applications. The SealTrack™ design creates a positive side seal along the filter belt or disposable media throughout the filter tank, helping prevent chip bypass.

The filter belt is attached to roller/hook chains on both sides for transport and indexing, reducing flight contact and premature wear. Because the seal remains engaged throughout the filtration cycle, secondary backup filtration is typically not required.

Contaminated fluid enters the rear of the STEB filter’s dirty tank, where heavy particulates settle to the full-width drag conveyor at the bottom of the tank. The conveyor can operate continuously or intermittently to remove chips and sludge, with intermittent operation helping reduce wear and improve solids drying.

Fine particulate is drawn to the suspended vacuum box, where fluid passes through the filter belt or disposable media before returning to the machine or grinder. The filter/system pump also supplies the clean tank, providing a continuous source of clean fluid during filter indexing.

As the filter operates, fine particulate is drawn to the suspended vacuum box, forming a filter cake on the filter belt or disposable media. As the cake builds, flow to the filter/system pump becomes restricted, triggering an index cycle through a vacuum switch or timer.

During indexing, the vacuum break valve opens so the pump can draw from the clean tank and maintain continuous process flow. Vacuum is released from the filter media, a clean section of belt or media advances into position, and the valve then returns to its normal position so filtration can resume.

The STEB filter can operate with either permanent polyester or polypropylene filter belts or disposable media. Permanent belts are available with filtration ratings down to 10 microns, depending on the application.

Disposable media can be layered over the permanent belt for occasional removal of tramp oil or sub-micron fines, or used continuously with a carrier belt. Both media options are designed for easy installation on the STEB roller/hook chain, with a typical filter belt installation taking less than 60 minutes.
