Selection and Evaluation
The filtration medium is a critical part of filter performance. Because process conditions vary by plant and application, selecting the right media is essential.
An effective filter medium should: - Allow liquid to pass with minimal resistance - Capture the required range of solids - Support clean cake release - Resist blinding
When operating data is available, it can guide media selection. When it is not, filter leaf testing can be used to evaluate performance.
Leaf testing simulates filtration steps including cake formation, draining, washing, drying, and discharge. It can be used to compare media based on yield and operating performance.
Testing can be completed in our laboratory or at your facility.
Leaf test kits, instructions, and media samples are also available for customer use.
Fabrication
Komline offers both synthetic and natural filter media, with each fiber providing different mechanical and filtration properties. Media can be woven in several patterns, including plain, twill, and satin weaves, to meet specific performance requirements.
Once the media is selected, proper stabilization and fabrication help improve operating life and dimensional stability. Custom options include webbing, grommets, closures, and reinforcements.
We also offer a range of belt closures, edge seals, coil-spring envelope materials, and belt-tracking profiles for continuous vacuum filters, including Rotary Drum Vacuum Filters and Horizontal Vacuum Filters.
For belt filter presses and gravity belt thickeners, Komline Filter Media offers both seamed and seamless filter belts.
